Amador County Licensing
Welcome! Amador County needs County "Foster Family Homes" and "Foster Group Homes".
The law states that "Child Protective Services" and probation are to place children in the least restrictive setting and in licensed "Foster Family Homes" over "Group Homes" if there are county homes available. Amador County does not do their own licensing, the licensing process is done through the "State Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing".
The first step in the licensing process is to attend a "Licensing Orientation". At the orientation you receive a brief overview of, "Community Care Licensing", "Child Protective Services", " Foster Care Health Nurse Services", "Foster Kinship Care Education" and the "Independent Living Program".
You also receive a "Licensing Application Packet" and guided instructions on completing the application.
You are informed that the law requires a minimum of twelve (12) hours of "Pre-placement" training covering the topics:
An overview of the child protective system
The effects of child abuse and neglect on child development.
Positive discipline and the importance of self-esteem.
Health issues in foster care.
Accessing education and health services available to foster children.
