Amador County Licensing
Welcome!  Amador County needs  "Foster Family Homes" and "Foster Group Homes".
To become a Foster Parent you must be licensed.
Amador County does not do their own licensing, the licensing process is done through the "State Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing".  For Licensing information call: Community Care Licensing at: 916-263-4700
You may also be certified through a "Foster Family Agency",  there are many different agencies to choose from. Look in your phone book for listings. A local agency in the Jackson area is:
Environmental Alternatives, there telephone number is: 209-223-3888. Their website address is: http://www.EA.org

The State  requires foster parents to have a minimum of twelve (12) hours of "Pre-placement" training covering the topics listed below:
An overview of the child protective system
The effects of  child abuse and neglect on child development.
Positive discipline and the importance of self-esteem.
Health issues in foster care.
